3F06

Commissioner, ANC 3F06

ASSUMED OFFICE

January 2023

OFFICE:

Chair

COMMITTEES

Streets & Sidewalks Committee

This City has shaped who I am today: a parent of three children, the co-owner of two small businesses and an engaged member of the community. And I love this city and this neighborhood. In 1991 as a junior in high school I got a job on Connecticut Avenue at Marvelous Market-now Call Your Mother-there were lines around the block. I felt so lucky to be able to work on that bustling block with the best bread in town, and even better, Politics & Prose. When my husband and I moved back to DC almost 20 years ago, I knew I wanted to be as close to that wonderful block as I could be, which has only improved since my high school days.

Before I was a Commissioner I was an active volunteer at Murch and served as Vice President of the HSA Board and co-chair of a very profitable Murch Auction. I worked with DDOT to re-pave and install 5 additional catch basins and storm drains to fix flooding on Ellicott, Fessenden and 32nd Streets. I am an advocate for pedestrian safety and robust public transportation. I worked with Council, ANC members and officers from the 2nd District to address neighborhood traffic concerns during the morning and evening rush.

I still worry constantly about cars speeding through ANC3F06 where our sidewalks begin or end mid-block. It’s not just adding sidewalks, it’s also calming the traffic and prioritizing students getting to and from school safely.

Our neighborhood thrives because of a long tradition of vibrant small businesses and many years later, as a small business owner, I understand the challenges of running a business and advocate for them. During the pandemic, I co-founded an organization that purchased over 1,500 meals from locally owned restaurants to serve not just healthcare workers, but also service workers in hospitals-the janitors and the techs. We were able to help businesses while helping often forgotten heroes of the pandemic.

As your Commissioner I work hard to advocate for the residents of 3F06. I am always open to hear to your concerns. Please contact me at 3F06@anc.dc.gov
